EGES converters work on a principle of parallel resonance which means that even at the highest power level, the chosen Thyristors work approximately half of the limit currents.

In other words, the safety margin in the thyristor is hundred percent. Due to this application the service life of thyristors is extended as twice as much because of low heat losses and lower operation temperature. The working temperature of thyristors used in EGES converters are 80 - 95 °C. which 30 - 40 °C lower than the maximum operation temperature.
